Institutional External Evaluation and Accreditation

The Institutional External Evaluation Program and the Institutional Accreditation Program are two different external evaluation practices carried out by the Higher Education Quality Council of Türkiye (YÖKAK). Although the evaluation criteria, the formation of evaluation teams, the use of the Institutional Internal Evaluation Report (KİDR) for preliminary evaluation, the pre-visit, and the site visit processes are the same for both programs, they differ in terms of their outcomes.

As a result of the Institutional External Evaluation Program, the evaluation team prepares an Institutional Feedback Report, which is then made publicly available.

As a result of the Institutional Accreditation Program, the evaluation team prepares an Institutional Accreditation Report, and based on this report, YÖKAK decides whether the institution receives full accreditation or conditional accreditation. These decisions are also shared with the public. For institutions that fail to meet the accreditation requirements, YÖKAK provides support for institutional development within the framework of quality assurance practices.

Key Features of Both Programs

  • A nationally implemented evaluation process based on internationally recognized perspectives.
  • An evaluation grounded in the institution’s internal self-evaluation.
  • A process aimed at measuring alignment with the institution’s self-defined mission, vision, and strategic objectives, adopting a principle of continuous improvement.
  • A peer-review process that incorporates the views of both internal and external stakeholders of the institution.

Eskişehir Technical University was included in the Institutional External Evaluation Program in 2021, and the related feedback report, as well as the report of the Institutional Monitoring conducted in 2023, can be accessed through the Institutional Reports” menu.
